Recycle Week lifts lid on blue bin contents

This week is Recycle Week 2017 and South Northamptonshire Council's (SNC) recycling experts will be on the road promoting their green message.

The council is supporting national Recycle Week 2017, and the recycling team will be visiting Brackley Piazza on Wednesday, 27 September from 10am until 4pm and Farthinghoe Recycling and Reuse Centre on Saturday, 30 September from 9am until 5pm.

The team will be especially focussed on items which often miss out on going in the blue recycling bin, such as plastics from the bathroom and aerosol cans. Also during Recycle Week, additional blue bins will be on sale for the reduced price of £18.

Cllr Dermot Bambridge, SNC's portfolio holder for environmental services, said: "This year's Recycle Week theme is 'Recycling – It's Worth It', highlighting what a tangible difference recycling can really make.

"The team will be on the road, doing their utmost to get the message out there that taking the time to recycle pays dividends to our lives and to the planet.

"If you see them, do go over and say hello, you might find out something new about recycling that could continue to help us all make a difference."

Recycle Week 2017 is promoted nationally by The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) under its brand Recycle Now and, during the week, the council will be sharing lots of the organisation's best facts and figures on its social media channels to encourage people to recycle more.
