This month Roy Smart will give a talk entitled 'Amy Wonderful Amy', about the aviatrix Amy 'Johnnie' Johnson The Aeroplane Girl, who from modest beginnings as a fishmonger's daughter from Hull, taught herself the basics of aviation. Roy tells her story, her triumphs and disasters, her highs and lows, not least her calamitous marriage to 'The Flying Scotsman',and then unravels the mystery of her disappearance one winter's Sunday, serving her country in its hour of need as the Battle of Britain gave way to the Blitz.

Visitors are welcome, entry is £3.00. The talk will be followed by a chance to chat, refreshments and a raffle.

Walking Group Saunter

Meet outside the Village Hall and wander round the village on the flat pavements for about 30-40 minutes then go into one of our houses for a drink and a chat. It is for people who cannot manage the longer walks or need a flat firm surface and possibly a walking aid.

An illustrated talk looking at the origin and development of recorded sound and early methods of playing both cylinder and disc records on phonograph and gramophones. Machines dating from 1903-1933 are brought along and used to demonstrate music contemporary with the machines.

Fight for Sight is a national charity funding invaluable eye research for sight loss from 0-90 year olds. Common eye diseases are Macular Degeneration, Nystagmus, Glaucoma and Retinopathy to name a few. Each eye disease has a profound impact on everyday life.

Rural Cinema - Yesterday (12A)

not able to, then the Village Hall may have the answer ! The
Village Hall Committee in conjunction with Phoenix Community
Cinema puts on a monthly film. All start at 16:00 on the last
Wednesday of the month and will cost £4.00. Tea and coffee
with a donation at the interval.
